Ocean Township is a township located in east central Monmouth County, New Jersey, United States. Ocean Township consists of three main unincorporated communities: Wanamassa, Oakhurst and Wayside. The township is divided into two zip codes, 07755 (Oakhurst) and 07712 (Wannamassa & Wayside, main city Asbury Park).Small portions have Allenhurst (07711) and Deal (07723) zip codes.

As of the 2010 United States Census, the township's population was 27,291, reflecting an increase of 332 (+1.2%) from the 26,959 counted in the 2000 Census, which had in turn increased by 1,901 (+7.6%) from the 25,058 counted in the 1990 Census.

Mayor and Council

The Township of Ocean’s five-member, non-partisan Council operate under the Council-Manager form of government. Council members serve four-year concurrent terms. The Council is elected at large with the Mayor elected among the Council members. The Council sets policy for the municipality. The Mayor presides over the Council and, as a member, has a voice and a vote in its proceedings. All present Council terms expire June 30, 2019. The Township of Ocean offers a number of indoor facilities available to rent.
The following is general information about the facilities available:

WEST PARK RECREATION CENTER - West Park Avenue, Oakhurst
The facility is handicapped accessible and air conditioned. Located adjacent to the Pool and Tennis Facility, the following are the rooms available for rent:

LARGE ROOM accommodates up to 130 people. Included with this room are the following: Kitchen facilities (sink, oven, range, refrigerator) 20 tables and chairs

SMALL ROOM (Upstairs) accommodates up to 60 people. Included with this room are the following: Sink, refrigerator, 10 tables and chairs

SENIOR CENTER (Behind West Park Rec. Center) Available for drop-in use on weekdays (non-holiday) 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. when not in use for scheduled senior activities. Available senior activities may be found in the seasonal recreation brochure available at the Dept. of Human Services (601 Deal Rd.) or on-line at www.oceantwp.org

Located at Oakhurst First Aid & Fire Company Memorial Field, this facility can accommodate up to 75 people. The facility is handicapped accessible and air conditioned. Included with this room are the following:

The Ocean Township Library, located at 701 Deal Road, has something for everyone. In addition to our adult and children’s fiction and non-fiction book collections, the library offers a large collection of audio and e-books. Assistance is available for putting e-books onto your personal device. There is free wireless access for those who choose to bring their own laptops or devices, or you may use the library’s computers for free Internet access. The library offers free programs for all ages including children’s story time, craft nights, adult and young adult book clubs, movies, concerts and more. There is a quiet study room as well as rooms for reading a book or one of the many available newspapers and magazines. In addition, shelves are designed to be accessible to the handicapped.
